As you learned in Module 7, not all non-Aboriginal people agree with special government services for Aboriginals, even though treaty and treaty rights have many of these services included within them.  Your task is to create a campaign to educate non-Aboriginal Canadians about treaties, treaty rights , and services for First Nations.  You may wish to form your campaign around a poster, billboard, radio or tv advertisement.  You will have an opportunity to share your campaign with your classmates in the discussion forum.

Use the following steps to help you design a campaign:

  1. In a chart or table list some of the arguments non-Aboriginals people have about special services for Aboriginals in one column.  In the second column, examine each argument from an Aboriginal and Treaty perspective.
  2. Select a format for your campaign (poster, billboard, radio or tv advertisement, or a format agreed upon with your teacher).
  3. Choose 2 or more of the arguments you laid out in step one, and educate and inform the public about the service from an Aboriginal and Treaty perspective.

Post your campaign in the Discussion Forum: Educational Campaign.

Remember to respond to a minimum of two of your classmates.

Your discussion posting will be assessed using the Discussion Rubric.
